Manz Hotaru

We fall deeply in love with colourless photo images. At some point along the way, our art-creators struggle seeking answer to this fundamental question “Do we really need colour?” is knee-deep in water with our fanciness on black & white photography burgeoning day-after-day. This album was composed base on our aspiration towards colourless conceptual art-images invention and we’re glad to have Manz Hotaru graced the shots.

Kent and Mike are brothers with total dissimilar personalities, even with an age gap of only 5 years.

Kent, working as university lab researcher has a persistent, courteous, matured and stable personality. He’s a father to 2 kids, a loving husband to Linda, habitually focuses to give his best to the family.

Mike on the other hand is an adventurous, ambitious and motivated handsome young man at the age of 25. Dropped from high school due to disciplinary-penalty. Set-up a mechanic workshop subsequently and failed the business within just 6 hard months. Experienced countless of heartbroken relationships, he is now the most popular star in a local laundry shop.

Despite to a great extent of personal dissimilarities, both the brothers share one passion in common – RIDING ON SNOW -. Here’re Kent's ice skiing coupled with Mike's free-style snowboarding motions captured by our lens under one fine sunny weekend.

Amber was exactly 4 months 2 days when we took up this assignment on a lovely Saturday morning. She’s absolutely beautiful and sociable in our eyes, hence making the entire photography session an enjoyable moment.
As Amber doesn’t like to be ordered neither for posing nor exposed to flash light, we suited her needs to capture her acts with natural light sourced from apartment window, while she enjoyed sitting comfortably on her favourite baby chair and making her own unique baby poses as and when she think fit. The image outcomes are special in our opinion.
Click on the post title to view more of her photos if you wish to.

Why Branding as WillyzPortico?

We often fancy about the ambient of Portico, which brought to us quite a number of ideas and inspirations. Also, we like to take pleasure in having a walk or merely a cup of tea/coffee at café set-up within the Porticos, while enjoying spectacular perspectives offered from ancient manmade architecture. Portico forms part of building architecture which can easily be noticed at museum, schools, library, court and etc.
Porticos are more than simply a way to connect the building exterior with the interior. They are part and pieces of a building, injecting values/souls to the subject. Our art-works are aim to have the same injection under the spirit of Portico.
Having explained quite abstractly about our fanciness for Portico, you may now ask, what the heck is this? In engineering term, Portico (from Italian word) is a porch leading to the entrance of a building, or extended as a colonnade, with a roof structure over a walkway, supported by columns or enclosed by walls. Such brilliant architecture idea was widely used in Ancient Greece and has influenced many cultures, including most Western cultures. Bologna in Italy is famous for its porticos. In total, there are over 45 kilometres of arcades, some 38 in the city center. The longest portico in the world, about 3.5km, extends from the edge of the city to Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca.

Not looking too far to experience the magnificent of Portico, if you’re a Kuchingite and wishing to seek for insights, please pay a visit to General Post Office to appreciate the ambient as we do. The building built in 1931 stands majestically with its imposing neo-classical style and impressive Corinthian columns. The Portico is the space between the columns and the building wall.

By now left only the need to explain why in merging “Willyz” for Portico. Willy is plainly the nickname of William, the founder of To make it cool instead of Willy’s, we replaced the ‘S with ‘Z. At least we think Z is a cool alphabet.
So here we are, the full explanation as to why the branding of WillyzPortico. Stay tuned and have a blessed day ahead, cheers.
